I have just begun studying medicinal plants this year and would love any tips you can give us on growing or respectively foraging them. I was just personally introduced to Nettles which were growing on my rural property in central Italy… so exciting! I grow some culinary herbs which have medicinal uses (rosemary, sage, thyme for example). I love chamomile and drink it as a tea daily. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Diane, welcome! It is so nice to meet you!

It is amazing that you are starting to study medicinal plants. And with the climate you have in central Italy, there are so many you will be able to grow! Do you plan to create your own medicinal garden (beyond the herbs you already have)?

Right now, my idea is to write one piece a month exclusively about cultivating and harvesting! I hope you will find it useful.

By the way, Nettles and Rosemary are some of my absolute favorite. They are wonderful! It is fantastic they are already growing on your property!

Hi, have been a follower of the Seed Sistas for a while, I take care of family health using herbal tinctures that I buy from licenced and trained herbalists and I have always preferred herbal meds over biomedicine. Very happy to find another newsletter that'll speak to us about what we can use and how. Something I like about Seed Sistas approach is that it's not extractive and does not see the plants as simply resource that we can use. Hoping to find similar relationships here.

Hi Caroline, welcome! It’s really nice to meet you! I am so pleased to read that medicinal plants already have such a place in your life, and especially that you don't see them just as resources to be used. I am completely with you there, and this is something I wish I would hear more often!

I believe our culture and our capitalist model are causing a lot of people to approach herbal remedies from a very consumerist point of view. And I am convinced that (re)learning to connect with plants as living beings is an essential key to a beneficial change of perspective.

I hope you will enjoy this space and the time you spend here!
